The initiative focused on raising awareness, monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar, as well as providing treatment and counseling to the public.

Young volunteers from the NSS cell of PAU proactively engaged in sensitizing the visiting public about the risks of having  uncontrolled blood pressure through awareness pamphlet distribution and poster displays to motivate them to get screened for hypertension and diabetes.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. S.S. Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU; Dr. Rishi Pal Singh, Registrar of PAU; and Dr. Bishav Mohan, Professor of Cardiology at Hero DMC Heart Institute. Other dignitaries present included Shri Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer DMC&H Managing Society, Dr.Nirmal Jaura and Mr.Bal Mukand, Dr.Jaswinder Kaur and  Dr.Harmeet Sarlachs and other faculty members of DMC&H.

Giving insight about this screening drive, Dr Bishav Mohan, Professor of Cardiolgy and Project Head of ‘Mission Swasth Kawach’  said that this two-day health screening drive successfully screened 3,000 individuals for hypertension and diabetes, of whom 40% were found to be hypertensive, most of them were not emphasised the disease can  progress silently and 11% were found to be diabetic. Anti-hypertensive were provided to  hypertensive individuals and counselling was given regarding healthy lifestyle, regularly monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar, and take medicines consistently.

All hypertensives and diabetics detected were issued a Mission Swasth Kavach card containing details of their diagnosis and treatment, a simple illustration of how hypertension affects body organs, and a helpline number to guide and motivate them to achieve effective blood pressure control.
