The Biomedical Waste Management policy at DMC&H follows the Biomedical Waste Management Rules 2016, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, through a gazette notification on 28th March 2016. Before this, DMC&H adhered to the Bio-medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules 1998, issued by the same ministry. The updated rules aim to enhance waste segregation, handling, and disposal, ensuring environmental and public health safety. DMC&H strictly complies with these regulations, implementing proper waste collection, storage, transportation, and treatment procedures to minimize risks. Regular training and monitoring ensure adherence to protocols, maintaining a safe and sustainable waste management system.

Hospital Waste

Hospital waste refers to all waste, biological or non-biological that is discarded and not intended for further use.

Bio-Medical Waste

Bio-medical waste means any waste, which is generated during the diagnosis, treatment or immunization of human beings or animals or in research activities pertaining thereto or in the production or testing of biologicals, and including categories mentioned in Schedule I, of the BMW rules, 2016.

Environment Conservation

Miyawaki Forest

The Miyawaki technique, which turns unused hospital land into dense, native forests, improves air quality and biodiversity.

Solar Panel Lush Green Lawns and Trees

A sustainable and aesthetically pleasing approach, allowing for both energy generation and environmental benefits.

100% RO Water

By using reverse osmosis systems, the risk of waterborne illnesses is decreased and clean, safe drinking water is guaranteed.

Water Conservation

Water consumption is decreased and sustainability is promoted by putting strategies like rainwater harvesting and low-flow fixtures into place.

Recycling of Plastic Bottles

By minimizing plastic waste, recycling programs help to promote responsible waste management and lessen pollution in the environment.

Reduction of Plastic Usage

Sustainability objectives are supported and the environmental impact is reduced when single-use plastics are swapped out for biodegradable ones.

Conversion of Vegetable Waste to Compost

Green spaces or hospital gardens are improved and landfill waste is decreased by composting vegetable waste to create nutrient-rich soil.
