The Cardiology Department is a center of excellence offering state-of-the-art care for a wide range of cardiac and vascular conditions. With a highly skilled team of interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac intensivists, and support staff, we provide comprehensive cardiac services—ranging from routine diagnostic procedures to the most advanced structural heart, complex coronary, peripheral & paediatric interventions and complex electrophysiology procedures including 3D.

We are equipped with cutting-edge technology, hybrid cath labs, and advanced imaging systems that enable safe, precise, and effective management of both adult and pediatric cardiac patients. Our department functions with a strong focus on innovation, patient safety, and multidisciplinary care.

Our Cardiology Department is fully committed to delivering comprehensive heart care across all age groups—from neonates to geriatric patients-through evidence-based practice, compassionate care, and technological innovation. From preventive diagnostics to lifesaving interventions, we strive to improve patient outcomes and set new benchmarks in cardiovascular medicine.

Our Outreach Programs extend specialized cardiac care to underserved populations, promoting early detection and timely intervention.

We place strong emphasis on Preventive Cardiology, offering personalized risk assessments, lifestyle counseling, and cardiac wellness plans to reduce the burden of heart disease.

The Department of Cardiology is a recognized leader in cardiovascular research, with an impressive body of work comprising over 500 peer-reviewed publications in globally acclaimed journals. Our research spans critical domains such as interventional cardiology, hypertension, genetic cardiology, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and cardiovascular prevention.

Our work has been featured in some of the world’s most prestigious medical journals, including: The Lancet, BMJ (British Medical Journal), Nature Medicine, JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), JACC (Journal of the American College of Cardiology), The American Journal of Cardiology, Annals of Human Genetics, Indian Heart Journal, among others.

These publications reflect our commitment to rigorous scientific inquiry and our significant contributions to advancing cardiovascular science globally.

We are also actively engaged in numerous research projects supported by renowned institutions such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and several international collaborators. These initiatives are at the cutting edge of diagnostic advancements, therapeutic innovations, and outcome-driven strategies in cardiology.

Beyond research articles, our department has authored and edited over 18 leading textbooks and reference works on cardiology, addressing both advanced clinical techniques and evolving treatment paradigms. Complementing our academic outreach, we have also produced 10 books dedicated to public awareness, focusing on heart health education, lifestyle interventions, and prevention strategies for the community.

The department is also proud of the prestigious national recognitions and leadership roles held by its members:

  • Dr. G.S. Wander, a senior faculty member and academic leader, was conferred the Dr. B.C. Roy Award in 2006, India’s highest medical honor. He currently serves as the Chairman, Board of Management, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (2023–2029), reflecting his sustained contribution to medical education and governance.
  • Dr. Bishav Mohan was awarded the State Award by the Government of Punjab on 15th August 2021 for his exceptional service during the COVID-19 epidemic. He was also honored with the Special DGP Disc by the Punjab Police in June 2021 for exemplary community service during the global pandemic.

We are proud of our Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with IIT, Ropar and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in areas like digital health, bioengineering, and public health modeling.

These partnerships help us integrate technology and community insights into cardiac care and prevention. Our department is also actively involved in academic training, shaping the next generation of cardiologists and researchers. From heart health camps to mobile ECG units, our outreach continues to touch lives beyond hospital walls.
