Dr. Shibba Takkar is a pioneering figure in the field of cardiology, currently serving as Professor of Cardiology at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana. A distinguished academic throughout her medical career, she completed her MBBS from DMCH in 2000, graduating with distinctions in five subjects. She was honored with the prestigious DMC Award for excellence in academics, oration, and leadership during her undergraduate years.
In 2004, Dr. Takkar earned her MD in Medicine from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. She went on to create history by becoming the first DM Cardiology student to graduate from DMCH in 2009. Since joining the institution as faculty in July 2009, she has emerged as the first female interventional cardiologist practicing in Punjab—a trailblazer in a field traditionally dominated by men.
